Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on the 28th of October, 1967 in the home of Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. She belongs to the Robertses' fourth generation that reside in the Atlanta region, beginning by her grandfather John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. The Robertses' father was interested in the theatre at a young age. In 1952, while studying at Emory University, he performed in several productions in Atlanta. When he joined the Air Force and appearing in an air force production in Biloxi with Betty Lou Bredemus. In 1955, they got married and in 1956 their child Eric Anthony was born. Walter as well as his spouse left the military in the year 1957 and enrolled Walter as a student at Tulane University. Walter was employed as a technician by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to be a part of the production team for the show Bum Bum and His Buddies in Decatur Georgia. Walter and Betty Lou began producing a television show for children in the city of Decatur, Georgia titled Bum Bum and His Buddies. They funded the show themselves. In the following year, they established The Actors and Writers Workshop which ran for six years. They welcomed in 1965 two more children into their lives: Lelisa Billingsley and Julia Billingsley.
