Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco was born in Canada, and is now American. There are more than 20 albums that have been released by her. The songs of DiFranco are classified as folk or alternative rock. But, they have influences from hip hop music, jazz and punk. Ani Difranco has been widely acknowledged as a pioneer of feminist music. In 1990, she was among the first people to launch her own record label. DiFranco's parents, Elizabeth (Ross), a former student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Dante Americo DiFranco met each the other when they were both attending. Her mother and father were both from Montreal descent. Ani Difrasco wrote and recorded the song "32 Flavors". The track is part of her 1995 album Not a Pretty Girl, that was her sixth studio release. This song appears in the soundtrack to the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate from 1999. DiFranco apologized in 2013 after it was reported that she would be hosting an event for three days at the Louisiana slave plantation.
